  •  A Christian church priest in Nigeria was arrested for stealing a jeep from a parcel for the sale of used cars, after which the vehicle was sold at half the price.

The pastor of the Church of Jesus the Wonderworker in Nigeria is Priest Jeremiah Ehindero. In a bid to purchase a Toyota Highlander, which he will use for church work, he visited a used car dealership recently.

Having agreed on a final price of three thousand dollars for the vehicle, the priest insisted that the vehicle be taken for a test drive before handing the money over to the vendor. Otherwise, it is entirely normal for customers to take their vehicles for a test drive, so this time it was the same, so when they handed the keys to the jeep to Ehinder, the sellers had no doubt.

The priest drove in an unknown direction and did not appear for more than 24 hours on the parcel for the sale of vehicles. As a consequence, owners of cars were forced to call the police and report the theft.

At the door of the parish of Jesus the Miracle Worker, the federal unit for the prevention of theft appeared, where they found the priest with three other friends who said they had sold the jeep for $1,650.

The priest justified himself when asked why he stole the car by saying that the devil forced him to make this move and that the donations from the people in his church were very tiny, so he had to steal the vehicle.

I decided to steal the jeep and sell it so that I could repay the bank's cash debt, from which I took the money for the church's needs. I was forced to make this move, because donations to the church have been very low for the last three months, and the priest justified himself.

He claims that the devil called me when the bank began pressuring him to return the money and told him to steal the vehicle he was going to sell and use the money to repay the debt.

It was the devil himself who told me to steal the car. I must have listened. Now, said this priest, I regret it all.

Immediately after the arrival of the police, he was arrested, as was Latif Ojetunde, who allegedly purchased the jeep from the priest. Jamiu Abiodun and Lukman Mojojesa, who allegedly introduced the priest to the jeep buyer, were among those detained.

Ojetunde, however, argues that he did not know that the vehicle was stolen, that because it was a priest, he trusted Ehinder.

If I had known that this jeep had been stolen, after the arrest, Ojetunde said that I would never have bought it.
