The prisoner who had fled from the Belgian jail made his former roommates laugh because he had received a postcard with a letter from Thailand - Greetings.
Walid Sekaki is one of five convicts who escaped in December from jail in Antwerp province by climbing over the prison wall and having a nearby car parked to escape.
The letter was sent to 3 executives. His prison badge and a postcard that read - Greetings from Thailand, states the Independent - were included in the envelope.
Authorities assume that the letter is genuine, even though the fugitive is not certain to be in Thailand. While three prisoners were captured soon after the break, and a fourth in the Netherlands, before a postcard emerged, Sakaki had no clue or voice.
Sakaki is of Moroccan origin. After the police uncovered 25,000 ecstasy pills in his vehicle, he was arrested in 2017.
His older brother, Ashraf, has fled multiple times from jail and used a plane to escape in 2009.
